Each
February, the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research hosts a nationwide
education and awareness campaign, Kick In to Stop Sarcoidosis® (K.I.S.S.).
The campaign continues to gain momentum and the 2008 K.I.S.S. Campaign reached millions
through a combination of education events, print articles, Public
Service Announcements and widely broadcast health reports.
In 2008, the week 'kicked off' at a gala themed
fundraising event, held in Chicago on February 2nd. More than 400
supporters, patients and well-known celebrity patients joined FSR to raise national
awareness of sarcoidosis and important funds to support sarcoidosis
research.

The annual Kick In to Stop Sarcoidosis®
campaign provides an opportunity to recognize those working to
advance the Foundation's mission to improve the lives of those affected
by sarcoidosis and to find a cure for this disease. 2008 Honorees
include: Elliott Crouser, MD, Karen Duffy, Larry Wert & NBC-5 and
Andrea Wilson. Read the
2008 K.I.S.S. Press Release to learn more about
last years'
event and our honorees.
As a direct result last year's Campaign, the
Foundation was able to pledge more than $200,000 toward new research
grants. Grants awarded in the past year range from molecular research designed
to find more specific treatments to a new partnership to accelerate the
collection of tissue for placement with disease researchers. Through these grants, we hope to
realize the promise of victory, and someday ‘KISS’ sarcoidosis goodbye.
