NEW RED AWARENESS WRISTBAND ASKS AMERICANS TO KISS
(KICK IN TO STOP SARCOIDOSIS™)

Chicago, IL (1 August 2005) – A new bright red sarcoidosis awareness wristband, recently unveiled by the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, is now available for widespread distribution. The Kick in to Stop Sarcoidosis wristband promotes awareness of sarcoidosis and urges Americans to aid in the fight to stop this devastating disease.

FSR Founder and President Andrea Wilson, expressed her enthusiasm for the new bracelets. “The color red is universal for 'stop' and is in keeping with the Kick In to Stop Sarcoidosis message of FSR's successful annual education and awareness campaign. We are delighted by the overwhelming response to the wristbands so far and hope that many more will be sold to help us achieve our goal to ‘KISS’ sarcoidosis goodbye.”

A number of well-known celebrities, as well as patient groups from around the country, have demonstrated their support for the cause by publicly wearing this official national sarcoidosis wristband. (Shown: Senator Christopher S. Bond and FSR President Andrea Wilson.) Available in adult and youth sizes, wristbands can be ordered online or over the telephone with a credit card in packs of five for five dollars. Wristbands are also sold individually for those paying by check.

Sarcoidosis (pronounced SAR-COY-DOE-SIS) is a devastating, potentially fatal inflammatory disease that can appear in almost any organ in the body. Although the lungs are affected in more than 90% of patients, the disease often attacks the heart, eyes, central nervous system, liver and kidneys. Once thought rare, sarcoidosis is now known to be common and affects people worldwide. It is the most common chronic fibrotic lung disorder in the US. Sadly, the cause remains unknown and THERE IS NO CURE. Learn more disease facts.
