Sarcoidosis is a complex disease that can affect any organ. People newly diagnosed often struggle to understand what is happening in their bodies, and what their treatment options are. This first of its kind Introduction to Sarcoidosis webinar is meant to provide patients with a high level overview of the disease, as well as commonly prescribed treatments, testing, and management best practices.
About our Expert Panelists:
Manuel Lessa Ribeiro Neto, MD: Dr. Ribeiro earned his M.D. degree in Brazil, at the Federal University of Bahia, in 2006. He completed residency in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, Miami, Florida (2006-2010; Intern of the Year, 2006-2007; Chief Resident, 2009-2010). In 2010, he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Ribeiro completed three years of pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic (2010-2013; Chief Fellow, 2012-2013). After completion of his fellowship training in 2013, Dr. Ribeiro returned to Brazil, where he served as Coordinator, Respiratory Medicine Service at Hospital Cardio Pulmonary in Salvador. He rejoined the Cleveland Clinic in 2016.
Since 2020, Dr. Ribeiro has served as the Director of Sarcoidosis Center in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. His main clinical and research focuses are aimed at making continued contributions to the field of sarcoidosis and neurosarcodisois. Dr. Ribeiro is considered a sarcoidosis generalist, overseeing patients with multi-organ involvement.
Himabindu Vidula, MD, MS: Dr. Vidula is an Associate Professor of Medicine and an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Vidula received her MD degree from Northwestern University and completed her residency, cardiovascular disease, and advanced heart failure fellowships at Northwestern University. She is the Medical Director of Heart Transplantation as well as the Co-director of the Comprehensive Sarcoidosis and Amyloidosis Programs. Dr. Vidula has a special interest in telehealth and has received multiple research grants for prospective studies in patients with left ventricular assist devices. Dr. Vidula is also Governor of the New York State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
Brandon Moss, MD: Dr. Moss is an Associate Staff Neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic Sarcoidosis Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his neurology residency at the University of Michigan. He completed a neuroimmunology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Mellen Center, and a master’s degree in clinical research from Case Western Reserve University.
