The holiday season is upon us and so is the time for gifts and giving. Sarcoidosis is a potentially deadly disease that affects thousands of people. The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research is committed to improving the lives of sarcoidosis patients as well as searching for a cure for this disease. As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, donations are essential towards advancing our research for treatments and a cure! If you plan to do your holiday and/or everyday essential shopping online, or would like to make an impact towards our mission this holiday season, here are some fun and easy ways that may help you achieve your goal.
AmazonSmile
AmazonSmile is a website owned and operated by Amazon that contains the same products and prices as Amazon.com. However, when shopping through AmazonSmile, 0.5% of your purchase of eligible products will be donated to the charitable organization of your choice with no extra cost to you. If you already shop on Amazon.com, you can use your existing account to shop AmazonSmile today! Just go to smile.amazon.com and choose FSR as your charity.
Holiday Fundraising Ideas
Ugly Sweater Party: Whether sponsored by a business or hosted at the venue or your choice, ugly sweater parties are always a fun addition to holiday festivities. You can charge admission or just for food/beverage and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research.
Photos with Santa: Host a local photo opportunity with Santa in your community and put the money made towards FSR’s meaningful cause.
Silent Auction: Host an event in which you raise money through the auction of personal or donated items.
Caroling: Organize a group of volunteers to go out caroling for donations in your community.
Online Donations
Create a Team KISS fundraising page to generate online donations for the holiday season. Gather friends and family to spread the word and help support your cause. You can also donate to an existing fundraiser or directly to FSR through our Make a Donation page. Many companies will match their employee’s contributions to qualifying nonprofit organizations, sometimes doubling or even tripling the donation. Use the Matching Gift Information Sheet to show your Human Resources Department to find out if your company has a matching gift program!
Giving Tax Benefits
The benefits of donations do not only apply to the organization receiving them. When you make a charitable donation, you may be entitled to a deduction against your income tax if you itemize deductions. Most charitable organizations qualify for a charitable contribution deduction and the contribution will be deductible in the year in which it is paid. Visit Charity Navigator to learn more about how charitable giving may benefit you.
