The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, in partnership with WASOG, hosted a webinar to assist in the application process. Watch below as Dr. Daniel Culver, WASOG President, addresses topics related to application criteria, helpful hints in completion, and how to make your application stand out.

The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research is proud to partner with the World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders to provide a platform by which institutions may be recognized as having a WASOG recognized Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence.

What is the difference between a Clinic and a Center?

The first step in becoming a WASOG Center of Excellence is applying to become a WASOG Recognized Sarcoidosis Clinic. Sarcoidosis Clinics are multidisciplinary institutions that meet the needs of sarcoidosis patients and efforts to keep abreast of the ongoing advances and findings in the space. Clinics must meet rudimentary criteria to certify as a clinic, including holding a WASOG membership, employing a multidisciplinary team of sarcoidosis specialists, and investigating in clinical trials.

If your group has not yet gained recognition as a sarcoidosis clinic, please first complete the application here: https://www.stopsarcoidosis.org/become-sarcoidosis-clinic/. *Turnaround time in the selection process will be quick, and you will still have time to apply as a Center of Excellence this round.

Once your institution has been accepted as a WASOG Recognized Sarcoidosis Clinic, you may then move forward to the next stage of the application process: applying to become a WASOG Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence.

WASOG Sarcoidosis Centers of Excellence provide patients collaborative, comprehensive, and expert care all within one location. These Centers have set the standard in sarcoid-specific care.

Through a vigorous application process, a panel of experts from WASOG screen clinics and hospitals from around the world to ensure they demonstrates expertise in sarcoidosis and a strong commitment to the space.

Among the lengthy criteria involved in choosing Centers, clinics are scored on a variety of factors including, but not limited to:

  • The care team consists of a comprehensive set of specialists.
  • The care team also consists of allied health specialists including a Center coordinator.
  • At least 500 sarcoidosis patients seen at the Center.
  • At least 100 new patients seen at Center within the past year.
  • An established registry of sarcoidosis patients.
  • The Center enrolls patients in clinical trials.

The membership period for Centers of Excellence is two years. All institutions must reapply at that time. ย
